behind matiz

Jezarely began Matiz in the spirit of her love and admiration for her roots. Her designs are a reflection of the beautiful southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico, where her family’s story was founded. Being of Mexican heritage, she strives to showcase Mexico’s beauty in the truest way. In an effort to support artisan makers, Jezarely has blended her expertise in interior design and sustainability by developing her first artisanal rug collection to bring more awareness to cultural heritage craft processes. She infuses the brand with her appreciation of natural materials and ingredients, the exploration of shapes and form, and contemporary designs that embrace traditional craftsmanship.

our collections

  • collection no.1
Influenced by Oaxaca’s mountainous landscape, collection no.1 mimics the states’ rugged terrain and rich earth. Our rugs emulate the diverse topography through distinctive contour lines and bold colors that reflect the local materials and outside surroundings. We invite you to experience these regions by stepping foot on our rugs and Oaxaca’s natural wonders.

    collection no.2
Inspired by Oaxaca’s colorful concrete facades and the naturally casted shadows, collection no.2 honors the historical architecture that continues to dwell in the city. Our designs will transport you to the essence of Oaxaca, made up of the building's original stones, the natural wear of the brick, and the architectural play with light and shadow that enliven the streets.
